Our Dordon Customer Fulfilment Centre (Ocado CFC2) is around 350,000 square feet and boasts world leading technology. At full capacity we will fulfil between 190,000 - 200,000 customer orders a week from this one site alone, which requires 24/7 operation and a dedicated team of Engineers and Technicians.
About the role
As an Engineering Technician, you will be carrying out planned maintenance across the site in an accurate, timely and safe manner ensuring maintenance procedures are followed. Update records of work activities, tasks carried out, parts used through stores and training given. Work closely with manufacturers, suppliers and internal departments in finding ways to improve process and increase machine reliability and performance. Respond to and diagnose equipment breakdowns, resolving issues and actioning repairs and perform daily housekeeping and cleaning duties of all equipment.
You will be reacting quickly to both mechanical and electrical MHE breakdowns; locating faults, analysing issues and resolving them in a timely manner. Maintaining precise records of work carried out, parts used, etc.. Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient operation, optimising machine reliability, and ensuring all repairs have a minimal impact on the operation. Analysing data and finding solutions to improve equipment performance. Getting involved in continuous improvement projects within the business to gain skills and experience
Shift: 12 hour shift with an average of 42 hours per week. This will involve working weekdays and weekends both days and nights. There are 264 hrs holiday equating to 22 days
About you
Electrical or mechanical experience, preferably within an FMCG environment. A natural problem solver, experienced in working with controls, analysing faults and providing solutions. Good technical ability relating to automation hardware and software, ideally with some experience of both reactive and preventative maintenance. An organised, capable team player with excellent communication skills. Some working knowledge of automated warehouses and their technical components. Have an eye for detail; good problem solving ability and a practical approach. Good communicator with the ability to analyse and impart knowledge.
Full training to complete the technician role over 5 weeks will be given but experience of working within an automated warehouse / logistics environment would be desirable. Flexibility of working pattern as and when required by business needs.
