Construction Manager - Nuclear Build Programme
Location: AWE Burghfield (Site-Based)
Rate: c. £600 per day (Outside IR35)
Hours: Full-time on site, Monday-Friday, 45-hour week
We're looking for an experienced Construction Manager to take a leading role in the delivery of a major nuclear building project at AWE Burghfield. This is a high-impact, client-side position overseeing complex construction works within one of the UK's most critical defence-sector environments.
This role requires current and active SC clearance and substantial experience within the nuclear or defence sector. Experience delivering Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems is essential.
What you'll be doing
Planning & Delivery: Develop, manage, and execute detailed construction plans covering schedule, resources, logistics, and delivery sequencing.
Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, including contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel, ensuring safe and efficient progress.
Nuclear Safety Compliance: Ensure all works meet strict nuclear safety regulations, licence conditions, and industry standards.
Quality Oversight: Monitor site activities to ensure exceptional quality, technical compliance, and adherence to project specifications.
Risk & Issue Management: Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies to maintain delivery continuity.
Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain clear communication with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal delivery teams through regular reporting and updates.
Budget Awareness: Support cost management through efficient resource use and awareness of budget constraints.
Documentation Management: Maintain accurate, complete records including progress reports, safety documentation, and compliance evidence.
About you
Current and active SC clearance (essential).
Degree-qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years' experience delivering construction projects in nuclear or defence settings, with strong M&E and I&C exposure.
Relevant project management or safety certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, nuclear safety qualifications, etc.).
Strong leadership, communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
Confident using project management tools and digital reporting systems.
Capable of performing in a high-pressure, highly regulated environment.
Eligible and willing to obtain DV clearance
