About the Role:
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital support to students experiencing emotional or mental health challenges. You’ll work closely with educators, pastoral teams, and external professionals to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Offer one-on-one and small group support to students with mental health needs
* Assist in developing coping strategies and emotional regulation techniques
* Promote positive mental health and well-being across the school
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and mental health professionals to implement tailored support plans
* Encourage participation in classroom and social activities
* Maintain a safe, inclusive, and empathetic learning space
Requirements:
* Experience supporting children or young people with mental health challenges is highly desirable
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with staff and families
* Relevant training in mental health or youth support is advantageous
To work with GSL Education as Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you should:
* Have the right to work in the UK
* Provide an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last 2 years
* Hold a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education
