Overview
SEN Teaching Assistant. Location: Smethwick, Birmingham B66. Pay Rate: Apply online only. Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only). Start Date: ASAP. Contract: Long-Term, Temp to Perm.
We are working with a mainstream primary school in Smethwick to find a compassionate and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.
You'll work closely with a pupil who requires tailored, consistent support throughout the school day. This role is ideal for someone who thrives when making a direct impact and building meaningful relationships with children who need that extra bit of care.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN, including autism and/or speech & language needs.
* Support learning across all subjects, adapting materials to suit individual needs.
* Help with emotional regulation and social development.
* Liaise with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adjust support strategies.
* Ensure the pupil feels included, safe, and encouraged every day.
Qualifications & Skills
* Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting.
* Confident working 1:1 with pupils with additional needs.
* Patient, calm, and empathetic approach to learning and behaviour.
* Able to follow direction while also using initiative.
