A client within the Public Sector based in the Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor to join their Property & Asset Management Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a property and construction environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To deliver a professional building surveying service across the Council’s property portfolio, including maintenance, refurbishment, compliance, and capital improvement projects, ensuring assets are maintained safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory requirements.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Undertaking property inspections, condition surveys, and defect diagnosis across a varied portfolio
Preparing specifications, schedules of work, drawings, and cost estimates
Managing and delivering planned and reactive maintenance projects
Contract administration and on-site project management duties
Ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation, CDM regulations, and statutory requirements
Liaising with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budgetThe Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require the following essential qualifications:
Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent construction-related qualification
Membership of RICS (MRICS) or working towards chartered status
NEBOSH or IOSH Health & Safety qualification (or equivalent)The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment
Strong knowledge of building regulations, contract law, and procurement processes
Experience managing capital works and planned maintenance programmes
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and work independentlyThe client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £35 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £28 per hour PAYE), depending on experience.
