Midlothian Council Fire Safety Adviser (Full-time or Part-time)
This role holds a significant position within the local authority and will work closely with all relevant duty holders to ensure compliance regarding fire safety within their establishments. The role is suitable for job share and will be delivered on a hybrid working model.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct and manage fire risk assessments for Council properties.
* Provide expert advice on fire safety technology and legislation.
* Train staff, the public and non-professionals in fire safety practices.
* Prepare detailed written reports and communicate effectively at all levels.
* Work independently to achieve targets and maintain statutory compliance.
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
* Corporate membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) and a fire risk assessment qualification that provides access to the IFE Register of Fire Risk Assessors and Auditors.
* Basic keyboarding skills and proficiency in Microsoft database, spreadsheet and word processing applications.
* Broad experience of Fire Safety at a professional level, including the provision of advice on the technology of fire and practical working knowledge of fire risk assessments.
* Competent in written report writing and able to communicate effectively at all levels.
Desirable
* Experience of training the public or non-professionals in fire risk assessment.
* Experience of using CAD and computer packages to progress own workload.
