Job Description:

This role is responsible for specialist payroll support in the delivery of the UK and Crown Dependency payrolls. The role manages critical payroll activity to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of the monthly payroll, such as running the gross to net calculations, providing input to change projects both business and government led, and the administration of legislative documentation such as P60 and P11D. The role provides effective management of escalations for the tier 2 payroll team, offering guidance and support through to resolution.

To be successful as a Payroll Specialist, you must have experience with:

* Extensive experience of payroll administration and support, with expertise level
* Decision-making that considers policy, legislation, operational performance, and team deliverables
* Proven success in driving process and procedural change initiatives from conception to implementation

You may be assessed on key skills such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

Purpose of the role

To manage payroll functions, including calculating employee pay, withholding taxes, deductions, maintaining accurate payroll records, and resolving complex pay queries.


Accountabilities

* Processing payroll for hourly, salaried, and commissioned employees, including tax calculations, contributions, and payments
* Managing employee payroll records and troubleshooting issues
* Providing guidance and support to employees on payroll matters
* Ensuring compliance with statutory filings and managing responses to government notices
* Handling payroll statutory reporting and liaising with tax authorities
* Performing activities timely and to high standards, driving continuous improvement
* Leading and supervising a team, supporting professional development, and coordinating resources
* Demonstrating leadership behaviors to foster a thriving environment
* Developing technical expertise and acting as an advisor in the work area
* Collaborating with other functions and business areas
* Taking responsibility for operational processing and activities
* Escalating policy breaches and embedding new policies/procedures
* Advising on decision-making and managing risks related to work
* Understanding how the sub-function integrates within the organization
* Making evaluative judgments and solving problems based on factual analysis
* Communicating complex information effectively
* Building networks internally and externally
