Head of HR

Northern LGPS (Northern Pool)


Northern LGPS (Northern Pool) is being established as a new FCA-regulated investment management organisation responsible for managing the assets of several Local Government Pension Scheme funds. The Pool will bring together significant long-term capital with a focus on strong governance, responsible investment and operational excellence.


As the organisation is established, we are now seeking to appoint an HR Lead to build and lead the people strategy for the Pool.


The role

* The HR Lead will be responsible for developing and delivering the Pool’s people strategy, ensuring that the organisation attracts, develops and retains high-quality talent while maintaining strong governance and regulatory compliance.
* Reporting to the Head of Corporate Services, the HR Lead will oversee workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, learning and development, reward and employee relations across the organisation.
* The role will act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on all HR matters, supporting the development of a positive and inclusive organisational culture while ensuring compliance with employment law, regulatory requirements and internal policies.
* The HR Lead will also establish HR policies, oversee recruitment and onboarding processes, manage employee relations issues where required and ensure effective HR reporting and data governance.
* This role offers the opportunity to shape the people framework of a new investment management organisation from its inception.


About you

We recognise the urgency of building out the leadership team for the Pool and are therefore particularly interested in speaking with candidates who would be able to start immediately or at short notice. We would also consider individuals available on either a permanent or interim basis where appropriate.


* You will be an experienced HR professional with a track record of operating at senior level within complex or regulated organisations. You will have experience leading HR strategy, managing employee relations and implementing effective recruitment, performance and development frameworks.
* You will bring strong knowledge of employment law and HR governance, together with experience in workforce planning, organisational design and HR policy development. Experience within financial services, investment management or similarly regulated environments would be beneficial, though not essential.
* You will be a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and capable of building an effective HR function within a new organisation.
