Senior Principal Designer
A leading construction consultancy is entering an exciting period of rapid growth and is looking to appoint another experienced Senior Principal Designer to play a key role in their fast-expanding team in London.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an established CDM professional who wants to take on a senior position within a business that is investing heavily in its people, clients, and long-term vision.
The Senior Principal Designer Role
Joining the team as Senior Principal Designer, you will act as a key advisor on a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors including commercial, residential, education and heritage. You will lead on CDM compliance, support clients in fulfilling their duties, and work closely with design teams to embed health and safety throughout the project lifecycle.
You’ll also play an important role in mentoring junior team members and helping shape CDM best practice as the consultancy continues to grow. There is a massive opportunity for growth within the business, opportunities to lead or build your own team and work up to Director level.
Senior Principal Designer Key Responsibilities
* Deliver the Principal Designer role in line with CDM Regulations 2015
* Advise clients on their statutory duties and support them in achieving compliance
* Coordinate health & safety during the pre-construction phase
* Review and contribute to design risk management and hazard elimination
* Liaise with architects, engineers, and contractors to promote safe design principles
* Attend design team meetings and project workshops
* Support the development of internal CDM procedures and standards
* Mentor and support junior CDM/health & safety professionals
What skills should you have?
* Proven experience operating as a CDM Principal Designer or Senior CDM Advisor
* Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and wider construction health & safety legislation
* Experience working within a consultancy environment (preferred)
* Confident communicator with the ability to influence design teams and clients
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum)
* Membership of APS / IOSH (desirable)
* Strong report writing and organisational skills
