Job summary Band 7 Nuclear Medicine Physicist The Nuclear Medicine Department at Barts Health carries out in excess of 10000 imaging investigations at three sites on five SPECT-CT and two PET-CT cameras. It also offers a full suite of in-vitro tests and supports a wide range of nuclear medicine therapy services. We are committed to providing our patients with outstanding care and seek a clinical scientist who shares this vision Main duties of the job We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Nuclear Medicine Clinical Scientist to join our friendly, dedicated team. It is an exciting time to join the department, with several substantial service developments currently in progress across the facility. This is therefore an excellent opportunity to develop research, clinical and management skills in a challenging but rewarding job. Ideally you will have experience of working in some or all of the areas described above and will be a clinical scientist registered with HCPC, but candidates close to completing registration will be considered for appointment. For both documents, please view the attachment Person Specification Qualifications Essential BSc (Hons) Physics or equivalent MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent experience MSC STP or equivalent experience. Registered Clinical Scientist Experience Essential Experience in the areas of the use of ionising radiation in medical physics, medical imaging evaluation, radiation detection and measurement. Practical handling of unsealed radioactive sources. Able to perform standard Nuclear Medicine equipment quality control performance tests. Proficient in Excel and Word: able to set up databases and spreadsheets and extract information. Understanding of patient and staff risks arising from radiation exposure and of the image quality requirements for a range of diagnostic imaging procedures Able to produce written reports within a defined timescale Knowledge Essential Able to produce written reports within a defined timescale Specialist knowledge of the techniques employed to measure the performance of a range of Nuclear Medicine and PET imaging equipment Knowledge of radiation protection legislation in healthcare and biomedical research Desirable Knowledge of a programming language such as IDL, Visual Basic, C Awareness of national standards, professional and other guidelines relevant to the specialist area Skills Essential Able to understand and operate a range of Nuclear Medicine equipment Able to analyse complex data Able to devise methods of analysing data Able to work off-site alone according to SOPs and to use initiative in non-standard conditions Person Specification Qualifications Essential BSc (Hons) Physics or equivalent MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent experience MSC STP or equivalent experience.
