A recognised high-volume manufacturer is currently looking to strengthen their Tooling department with the appointment of a Tool Maker.
Working from their manufacturing facility in Warwickshire, the Tool Maker will be responsible for:
1. Capable of interpreting engineering drawings successfully and, in conjunction with the Process Facilitator, determining the most appropriate manufacturing route for tooling and modifications.
2. Proficient in the use of all Toolroom machinery/equipment and trained in the safe use/fitting of grinding wheels required in the manufacture and repair of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and special-purpose equipment, making necessary dimensional adjustments as required.
3. Capable of assembling/disassembling press tooling or any other type of tooling. Checking clearances, tolerances, etc., to drawing dimensions, making required adjustments to ensure satisfactory performance of the tooling in production, including proving tools/equipment in manufacture.
4. Capable of diagnosing faults in tooling identified by production teams and supported by inspection reports, producing appropriate corrective solutions.
5. Capable of performing, or trained to perform, hard tool steel welding.
6. Maintaining all areas and plant within the Toolroom in a clean, tidy, and safe condition and adhering to safe working methods at all times.
7. Assisting in training new employees, apprentices, or trainees where appropriate.
8. Identifying areas for improvement in productivity within the Toolroom.
9. Reporting shortages in consumables/equipment to Process Facilitators and/or the Manager.
10. Liaising with subcontractors in manufacturing and repairing of special tools/dies.
The successful candidate should have a minimum of an Apprenticeship and be familiar with Press Tooling processes.
