About the Role
We are currently seeking a Workshop Semi-Skilled / Skilled Technician to join the Local Authority on an agency basis. This is a vital role ensuring the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of both Light Goods and Heavy Goods Vehicles in line with strict compliance and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out maintenance and repairs on vehicles in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, O Licence requirements, and DVSA standards.
Apply professional technical methods and maintain workshop standards.
Communicate effectively with the Workshop Supervisor/Manager throughout the repair/maintenance process.
Complete assigned workload and submit all required documentation in a timely manner.
Undertake relevant training to maintain and update technical knowledge.
Ensure proper use of council equipment and facilities.
Observe and adhere to safe working practices, COSHH handling, and risk assessments.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.Requirements
Previous experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally within a local authority or fleet environment.
Strong understanding of O Licence and DVSA compliance standards.
A valid driving licence and DVLA check must be provided
Ability to work safely and effectively within a workshop setting.
Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
Knowledge of COSHH handling and H&S regulations.
Relevant vehicle licences (or willingness to train to obtain them).
