Job description

Young at Art is excited to be recruiting for this key creative role within our organisation. Throughout the year, the Creative Producer will also develop and deliver a range of Young at Art creative projects such as Baby Rave and year-round events for Young at Art partners. We work with a range of creative and experienced artists well-versed in the work that we do and previous project partners include Save the Children, Belfast City Council, the MAC and Grand Opera House as well as Oh Yeah! Music Centre and Circusful. The Creative Producer will work primarily with Young at Art’s Director. They will be responsible for engaging and overseeing Festival, creative project and year-round event artists, staff and volunteers.


Responsibilities

* Provide administrative, operational and logistical support to Young at Art’s artistic programme, particularly the annual Belfast Children’s Festival.
* Develop and oversee the delivery of Young at Art’s creative projects and year-round event.
* Provide information to the General Manager and Director that ensures festival and creative project budgets are accurately costed and planned. Be responsible for budget management and controls for all festival, creative projects and year-round events.
* Collect and process project financial documentation for invoicing and payroll. Appropriately track project income and expenditure to support financial monitoring and reporting.
* Collaborate and maintain effective working relationships with fellow staff members, artists, freelancers and volunteers.
* Adhere to existing work practices and procedures and to contribute to the development and respond positively to new and alternative systems.
* Demonstrate commitment to Young at Art through regular attendance and the efficient completion of all tasks allocated within the deadlines required and set.
* Adhere to and support the implementation of all company policies and procedures including safeguarding, equality, health & safety, data protection and all others in place from time to time.
* Commit and work to Young at Art's Strategic Framework. Uphold Young at Art's values of being Child-led, Quality and Excellence, Accessibility, Innovation and Respect.
* Engage with their own continuous professional development to contribute to the activities, promotion and development of Young at Art.


Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

* Minimum two years’ experience of any of the following: Managing arts projects; Producing and managing dance/drama/music performances or events (live and/or digital); Or curating and/or coordinating visual arts exhibitions.
* Demonstrated ability to produce successful arts events particularly performance-based or exhibition-focused.
* Experience of successfully overseeing a team of creative people.
* Experience of creating and managing budgets.
* Demonstrated ability to meet multiple competing demands while working to strict deadlines. Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to effectively network within the sector and build strong and effective working relationships.
* GCSE in English and Maths (or equivalent) - minimum grade C.
* High degree of computer literacy including keyboard skills, use of standard office software, internet and social media.
* Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.


Further Information

Salary: £30,500 to £32,000 (FTE) per annum, pro rata. We are Northern Ireland’s leading children’s arts organisation and producer of the annual Belfast Children’s Festival, and our Creative Producer plays a key role in the festival’s operational delivery. Over 10 days, the Belfast Children’s Festival presents hand-picked incredible shows, performances, events, activities and creative experiences for everyone, including a range of inclusive shows specially created for those with additional needs. We offer performances from across the world, as well as some of the very best of performances for young audiences being made right here in Belfast, from festival favourites to world premieres, and of course our Festival Family Day Out filled with lots of free activity. The Belfast Children’s Festival is one of the largest in the UK and Ireland with approx. 27,000 children and adults attending both free and ticketed events.
