Job Opportunity: Part-Time Bartending Certification Instructor
The Connecticut State Community College is developing a pool of applicants for potential part-time teaching positions in the non-credit Continuing Education and Workforce Development division. Position Summary
The instructor will deliver high-quality instruction for aspiring bartenders, focusing on skills such as mixology, responsible alcohol service, and SMART techniques. The role involves curriculum development, classroom instruction, and collaboration with staff to improve program content.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver engaging training sessions on mixology, customer service, and responsible alcohol service.
2. Develop curriculum aligned with industry standards.
3. Provide practical demonstrations in simulated environments.
4. Instruct on SMART techniques and legal compliance.
5. Evaluate student performance and provide feedback.
6. Stay updated on industry trends and regulations.
7. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance program quality.
8. Create an engaging learning environment.
9. Maintain training materials and equipment.
10. Assist with administrative tasks like record keeping and program promotion.
Minimum Qualifications
* Associate degree or equivalent experience and training.
* Proven experience as a professional bartender or mixologist, with teaching or training experience preferred.
* Certification as a Professional Bartender or similar qualification preferred.
* Deep knowledge of mixology, drink recipes, and bar operations.
* Familiarity with SMART techniques.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and technological skills.
* Ability to work with diverse populations and adapt teaching methods.
Preferred Qualifications
* Extensive practical bartending experience.
* Certifications like TIPS or similar.
* Experience in adult education, especially in hospitality.
* Knowledge of legal and safety aspects of alcohol service.
* Commitment to promoting responsible alcohol practices.
