Part time, 22.5 hours per week.

The Ophthalmology Failsafe Team at Royal Bolton Hospital offers an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible individual. You will provide an efficient and effective reception service, acting as the first point of contact and arranging patient arrivals and departures into the department in a professional, friendly manner. Excellent customer service skills, both face‑to‑face and on the telephone, are required. You will work both as part of a team and independently, and be able to work under pressure in a busy reception area to meet deadlines and targets. Core hours are 8am until 5pm on a rota basis.
* Arrive and depart patients on LE 2.2 and complete procedure coding and correct RTT outcome status.
* Follow departmental DNA policy regarding patients failing to attend clinic; send standard letters and record information on LE 2.2.
* Arrange face‑to‑face follow‑up appointments at the request of clinic staff, recording specific instructions and booking to the correct condition clinics per booking protocols.
* Generate DNA letters to patients/GPs for non‑attendees.
* Produce patient/GP clinic letters through Open Eyes following clinical evaluation outcome.
* Book interpreter/language line and link workers as necessary.
* Provide day‑to‑day clerical support to the Failsafe Officers/Senior Booking teams.
* Follow Health Records Services procedures for adding patients to an Outpatient/Day Case waiting list.
* Respond to requests for patients who require transport for their attendance at the hospital.
* Escalate any patient safety/welfare issues immediately to line manager/supervisors.
* Ensure adequate stationery is available for smooth running of the department.
* Assist in promoting and fostering good working relationships both within and outside the Trust.
* Participate in the implementation of new working practices.
