The key function is to support NHS Property Services in delivering basic/routine planned building services maintenance and repairs across NHS premises to ensure buildings are maintained to the highest standards and to provide a safe and secure environment for all visitors, customers, and employees.
Main duties of the job
Ensure compliance with all processes, procedures, and policies that meet organisational standards, including but not limited to our Health & Safety Policy, HTMs (Health Technical Memoranda), or SFG20. Carry out and complete basic/routine maintenance activities as instructed, including building fabric, general monthly PPM tasks, plumbing, drainage, joinery, and general decoration repairs. Maintain effective site log books at all NHS premises, ensuring they are completed accurately and timely. Complete suitable risk assessments before undertaking works, in line with relevant permits or work plans.

We have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant based at Wokingham Hospital, 41 Barkham Road. The starting salary is from £24,000, depending on experience. This is a static position. Requirements include:
* Proven experience in a building trade or maintenance/caretaker role.
Additional requirements
* Driving licence is essential.
* Comfortable using technological devices to log jobs.
* On-Call availability.
* Industry experience is desirable.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with other technical disciplines.
Note: DBS and DVLA checks are required.
Key responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with NHSPS Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policies, technical guidance, statutory regulations, and HTMs.
* Deliver scheduled, reactive, and remedial maintenance as directed, maintaining operational standards. Activities include basic/routine maintenance, building fabric, plumbing, drainage, joinery, and decoration repairs.
* Maintain accurate site log books and complete risk assessments prior to works.
* Understand fire risk assessment principles and precautions.

Qualifications
* Proven experience in building trade or maintenance/caretaker role.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Experience
* Experience in building services maintenance, repairs, and minor installation projects.
* Basic skills in plastering, painting/decorating, and/or plumbing.
* Experience working in controlled environments and public buildings.
