Raytheon UK is searching for a Human Factors Integration (HFI) Manager to join our OMNIA® Training team.

As a Human Factors Integration (HFI) Manager, you will be critical to the successful delivery of the programme, collaborating within matrix organisation, with multi-disciplinary teams within Engineering

The role:

You’ll work in a matrix organisation and report operationally through OMNIA Training and functionally through the Tier 2 Support Lead. Ultimately, you’ll work for the British Army, championing innovation, and helping shape the future of military collective training.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Successfully enhancing the user experience, operational efficiency and safety of the solution design.
2. Support the developing the support solution across multiple training systems and environments to ensure a coherent, efficient and safe collective training support solution.
3. Create and maintain human factors plans, processes and procedures aligned with industry standard and regulations including JSP 912 and Def Stan 00-251.
4. Monitor, analyse and evaluate iteratively product/service performance and user feedback, providing recommendations for improving user experience and safety into the development cycle or service delivery.
5. Integrate and collaborate with the ITEA Team to deliver usability testing, delivering actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.
6. Evolve Human Factors Integration Requirements and ensure the products or services are compliant with them.
7. Conduct regular feedback sessions with key stakeholders, reporting, managing actions and improvements for the programme.
8. Responsibility for the implementation of contractual Human Factors Integration (HFI) requirements through the programme.
9. Responsibility for the implementation and management of the Human Factors Integration Management System (HuFIMS) and Plan in line with JSP 912 and Def Stan 00-251.
10. Attend Customer Programme, Design and HFI Reviews; to ensure HFI programme drivers are fully understood, considered and the impacts of any associated risks are reduced.
11. Support to the Engineering Leadership Team by producing HFI engineering plans, Basis of Estimates, Key Performance Targets and Statements of Work.
12. Ensuring that all HFI activities undertaken are conducted in accordance with Raytheon UK and MOD site procedures that reflects best practice.
13. Be ‘Responsible for championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement’.
14. Any other duties required to meet the needs of the programme.

You’ll want to work in collaboration with other defence training organisations, and the British Army. You won’t let bureaucracy get in the way of what needs to be done, you’ll learn lessons and share these lessons across the team. You won’t necessarily have a military background, but you’ll understand what it means to serve and to put the mission first.

The OMNIA Training HFI Manager will be responsible for enhancing the user experience, operational efficiency and overall product/service safety through robustly understanding human behaviour and ergonomics principles for the design and development of the Support Solution for the Army Collective Training Service (ACTS). Working directly with the Programme Engineering Management Team, this position requires exceptional knowledge and experience across the breadth of all Human Factors Integration and Support disciplines to refine and deliver intuitive, user-friendly and aligned with human capabilities.

This role requires a systems-thinking mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability work in a multidisciplinary engineering team in a complex and evolving environment.

Essential Skills and Experience:

15. An engineering background, educated to degree level or with equivalent previous related experience in Human Factors engineering or User Experience (UX) and User-Centred Design (UCD).
16. Proven knowledge and experience as an HFI manager and/or engineer.
17. Experience in a leadership role within complex, multi-disciplinary programmes.
18. HFI engineering skills to analyse the product usability and deliver refinement into the development cycle.
19. Familiar with statistical analysis and human factors evaluations
20. A high level of competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
21. A comprehensive understanding of Technical Publications and Support Documents.
22. Track record of delivering human factors assessments and mitigation strategies.
23. Comprehensive understanding of standards and guidance relating to HFI activities.
24. Flexibility to travel regularly within the UK to support meetings.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

25. Well-developed planning and organisational abilities.
26. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
27. Experience of training solutions, army platforms or installation of equipment at customer sites.
28. Knowledge of defence or public sector engineering standards and regulatory frameworks e.g. GEAR, ITEA and CADMID.
29. Experience in training transformation or learning platforms.
30. SAFe and ITIL4 certified.
31. Security cleared or ability to obtain (SC or above).
