We’re looking for an agile new member of the legal team to assist the LME in achieving these aims. This fantastic opportunity in a key component of the financial market, offers the successful candidate the chance to provide advice on a wide range of interesting, unique and intellectually stimulating matters within the global derivatives and commodities industry. This role will be varied as the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a range of departments within the LME, but their main clients will be the Sustainability and Physical Markets team and the Market Data team. The work will range from advising on potential breaches of the LME requirements by warehouse companies, investigating and taking enforcement in relation to warehousing breaches, advising on legal risks in respect of potential sustainability initiatives, and assisting in advising the business about potential sanctions. The role will also involve drafting and negotiating market data licences, assisting the business to enforce such contracts (when needed), and providing regulatory advice in relation to market data licensing. As these areas continue to develop at the LME, the successful candidate will be able to advise on new commercial opportunities for the business. The LME operates a collaborative environment, built on respect for individuals’ expertise. You will also collaborate closely with experienced colleagues in the legal team, who will gladly assist you in developing your skills and gaining wider market knowledge as you progress in your career at the LME. This role is ideal for lawyers with a growth mindset who enjoy working in a high-performing team, tackling unique legal issues and are looking for an opportunity to expand their skillset. In-house experience is desirable, but not essential. Additionally, it would be beneficial to have an understanding of the legal and regulatory context of the financial services market in which we operate. Ideally, you will also have knowledge of the law and commercial arrangements relating to data. You will bring approximately 2-4 years of post-qualification experience (but we also encourage applications from candidates outside of this range).
