Kent and Essex Police have recently transformed their digital service to adapt and take advantage of the latest technology and infrastructure available. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Digital Forensic Technician within Kent and Essex Digital Services at the Colchester Police Station Central Digital Forensic Hub.
The new Digital Services' structure aims to provide the best career progression and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to ensure you have the tools and experience for first-class digital forensic investigations.
Digital devices and ICT are present in almost every investigation. These range from complex computer platforms to mobile phones, games consoles, CCTV systems, and satellite navigation. As digital devices evolve, you must adapt and learn new technologies.
We seek an enthusiastic individual with skills and experience in:
* Technical ability with digital devices.
* Education to A level standard and experience in digital or policing environments.
* Writing technical reports/statements for court.
* Good interpersonal skills and effective communication.
The role involves collecting and extracting digital evidence according to standard procedures to support criminal investigations. You will advise officers on digital data extraction and use targeted techniques for faster decision-making.
You must adhere to ISO 17025 standards and maintain competence in digital forensic procedures, sharing best practices with colleagues. Updating your technical knowledge is essential.
Balance technical skills with teamwork, good communication, and managing a high caseload. You must handle sensitive information with emotional resilience and work under tight deadlines, multi-tasking as needed.
This shift-based role follows a 6-week pattern, including working 1 weekend in 6, with shifts:
* AM: 0700 - 1500
* PM: 1200 - 2000
* Weekend: 0800 - 1600
