Senior Occupational Therapist, Brighton & Hove Group Treatment Service (GTS). Part-time (four days a week) with Lead Occupational Therapist responsibilities within the GTS.
The Brighton and Hove Group Treatment Service delivers groups alongside 1:1 sessions for clients in secondary care, using a psychoeducational program within a Recovery model based on CBT, mindfulness, self-compassion and acceptance and commitment therapy. The role includes facilitation of psychoeducational and creative groups and a lead role in managing referrals and the daily running of the service at this site.
Responsibilities
 * Lead in developing and maintaining the OT pathway in GTS.
 * Provide professional supervision to OTs on the team and supervise junior staff/trainees where appropriate.
 * Play a role in the day-to-day management of GTS and manage referrals into GTS.
 * Assess individuals and families with complex health presentations and develop care plans with service users.
 * Carry a caseload, including lead practitioner duties, actively working with patients and carers.
 * Offer specialist assessment and advice, assess and manage ongoing risks in collaboration with service users and carers, and regularly review risk factors.
 * Plan and co-facilitate group treatments and ensure clinical practice is evidence-based and aligned with NICE guidelines and Trust policies.
 * Participate in regular clinical, professional and managerial supervision and contribute to Trust strategies.
 * Act within the professional code of conduct and scope of practice at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
 * Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy; registration with the HPC as an Occupational Therapist.
 * Evidence of postgraduate study or training; management/leadership training; training in standardised OT assessment tools.
 * Experience as a qualified OT in mental health with broad experience across a range of MH problems.
 * Experience of both group and individual work; multidisciplinary working; supervising staff and students; and experience as a Care Coordinator.
 * Leadership experience and experience applying a range of assessment tools and OT clinical approaches used in mental health.
