This senior director role reports directly to the Head of Capital and Leverage Management. The purpose is to lead a center of excellence within CALM focused on managing capital requirements and communications. This new position reflects strategic capital priorities. The ideal candidate will have extensive leadership experience, relevant expertise, and a proven track record in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage risk and improve efficiencies related to capital requirements, understanding drivers and forecasting potential changes.
* Ensure efficient use of capital, focusing on stress testing and leverage management.
* Maintain an effective capital risk appetite, setting early warning indicators and planning targets.
* Oversee external capital communications, including investor and credit rating agency reports.
* Analyze peers and external factors to understand market expectations and influence strategy.
Role Purpose
To optimize the bank's capital structure supporting growth, risk management, and regulatory compliance through analysis, strategy development, and capital adequacy monitoring under various economic scenarios.
Accountabilities
* Develop strategies for managing capital, including setting targets and monitoring adequacy.
* Optimize capital structure to support growth and profitability, managing regulatory exposures.
* Allocate capital based on risk-adjusted returns and other financial metrics.
* Provide regular reports on capital position, allocation, and stress testing to senior management and regulators.
Leadership Expectations
* Lead a large team or function, guiding strategic initiatives and embedding a performance culture.
* Manage organization-wide projects, act as a technical expert, and coach less experienced staff.
* Advise senior management and influence decisions outside own function.
* Manage resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for significant sub-functions.
* Ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and monitor external environment for regulatory or advocacy influence.
* Demonstrate industry knowledge, analytical skills, and strategic decision-making authority.
* Negotiate and influence stakeholders internally and externally.
* Serve as a principal contact and spokesperson for the function.
