A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our Finance and Performance Directorate as Head of Data Strategy.
The purpose of the role is to establish YHA's data strategy and architecture to support digital transformation and our long-term organisational transformation plans. Working closely with the Executive Director Resources & Transformation and Director of Finance & Performance, you'll build data governance frameworks, enable self-service analytics capabilities, and support the cultural shift toward data-driven decision making across YHA. You'll provide technical leadership for data transformation while building capability across the organisation.

What will you be doing as Head of Data Strategy
Working with the Finance and Performance Team you will:
Lead the development and delivery of YHAs data strategy and future data architecture, ensuring our systems and reporting platforms work seamlessly together to support digital transformation. Youll establish data governance frameworks, set organisation-wide data standards, and oversee the evolution of our business intelligence capabilitiesincluding shaping dashboards and reporting tools that drive better decision-making.
Play a key role in enabling cultural change across YHA by improving data capability and literacy, creating practical tools for non-technical users, and building directorate-level data champions. Through strategic coaching and insight, youll help senior leaders embed data into their decisions and highlight opportunities to accelerate data-driven ways of working.
Lead the consolidation of analytical functions, streamline tools and processes, and shape the future structure of YHAs analytics capabilityinitially managing the Performance Improvement Manager and BI Developer and preparing the organisation for post-transformation needs.
What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Head of Data Strategy
To work as part of the Finance and Performance Team we are looking for candidates with the following qualities:
Significant experience leading data transformation in complex, multi-site environments, along with strong technical expertise across data architecture, governance, SQL, and Power BI. Experience with hospitality systemsparticularly Mewsor wider system migration programmes will be a strong advantage.
Ability to communicate complex ideas simply, influence senior stakeholders, and drive cultural change toward data-driven decision making. Youll have a track record of consolidating analytical functions, managing technology-enabled transformation, and ideally an understanding of charity sector reporting. Above all, youll bring strong stakeholder skills and demonstrate our HEART values in the way you work.
