An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join the Cancer Services team. The successful applicant will provide administrative co-ordination and support to a multidisciplinary team within cancer services. Advanced IT, administrative, secretarial and organisational skills are essential. The postholder will be required to have excellent communication skills and an ability to deal with complex situations with service users and clinicians over the phone and in person. Previous healthcare experience is essential. An ability to work autonomously and to respond quickly to requests is required in addition to the ability to use your own initiative. Main duties of the job
* Work with clinical information staff, clinical teams across the Trust, Directorate staff and Support Services (e.g., Radiology and Pathology).
* Support directorate staff in coordinating, tracking and organising multi-disciplinary team meetings for cancer patients. Collect and record data relating to the cancer patient’s journey.
* Work to deadlines, investigate the patient’s pathway, and manage a varied workload with attention to data quality.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Produce and maintain a list of new cancer patients diagnosed in the Trust using IT systems (e.g., IPM, CRIS, ICE) and liaising with Clinical/Non-Clinical staff across Directorates.
* Plan, coordinate and administer MDT meetings, maintain patient lists, collect case notes, films and results, and record attendance, records and minutes (live data capture).
* Understand medical terminology/clinical coding related to cancer and undertake required training.
* Develop knowledge of cancer tumour sites and patient pathways.
* Use cancer data to inform colleagues on data collection; collate, process and develop routine data weekly to produce timely information on waiting times and patient pathways for the Trust, Commissioners, and the Department of Health.
* Continually develop skills in hospital information systems and ensure training is updated.
* Minimise risk in handling sensitive information and adhere to the Data Protection Act.
* Respect equality and diversity in the workplace.
* Keep up to date with national/local issues relating to cancer data collection.
* Contribute to MDT policies and to surveys and audits. Support clinical teams in developing accurate cancer datasets.
* Be flexible in working hours as required.
Person specification
Qualifications
* GCSE (or equivalent) English, Mathematics Grade C or above
* NVQ3 or equivalent
Experience
* Demonstrable experience of working with healthcare professionals/previous NHS experience
* Knowledge of handling confidential information and maintaining confidentiality
* Supervisory experience in a clerical setting
* Experience of inputting accurate and timely data into computer systems
* Experience of audit and data collection
Knowledge/Skills
* Knowledge of Health Records systems
