Horizon Teachers are working with a SEND School in the Croydon area that are looking to appoint Learning Support Assistants to help cover with staff absences on a long-term, full time basis starting in September, until the end of the next academic year in July 2026.
The school caters for students aged 11 - 17 that have Mild Learning Difficulties, such as Autism and being non-verbal. As some of the students in this school have challenging behaviours it would be desirable if you have previous experience supporting students with SEN needs, but this isn't essential.
Class sizes within this school are smaller, so you will be working with all of the children across the classroom along with a team of other Teaching Assistants.
Being a Learning Support Assistant within this school you will need to be patient, energetic and resilient in nature and be able to be flexible with a positive attitude to create a relationship with the students.
This will be a very rewarding role for the right person and will pay up to £575 per week.
What the school are looking for in their Learning Support Assistants:
1. Previous experience working with SEND - especially children with Autism and challenging behaviours
2. Moving and Handling experience is very desirable
3. Comfortable to lead small groups as well as working 1:1 with vulnerable students
