Overview The Design Museum shops, including the online shop, sell a unique selection of classic, beautiful, new, and cutting-edge books, objects and gifts focusing on architecture, furniture and all aspects of design from graphic design to fashion, with every purchase supporting the Design Museum. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised and enthusiastic eCommerce Assistant. This role has a focus on supporting our online business and contributes to the smooth running and success of the museum’s retail operation. Job scope The eCommerce Assistant is responsible for processing, fulfilling and organising dispatch of online orders, responding to online customer emails and enquiries, maintaining the online product catalogue, and helping with the day-to-day running of the Shopify store. You will have a passion for eCommerce, be proactive and able to use your initiative. The eCommerce Assistant will work in an organised and efficient manner, be comfortable working towards deadlines, and demonstrate strong customer service skills, as well as the ability to work well both as part of a small team and independently. Job description *The complete job description/person specification is available to download from our careers portal vacancy listing. eCommerce support Collate and upload data required for online product listings, including dimensions, weight, climate conscious credentials, country of origin and accurate HS tariff codes. Maintain up-to-date product listings for all web products, ensuring accurate descriptions, engaging copy, correct meta data and images. Source (via online and suppliers) and/or shoot (using provided photography kit) quality product images to agreed standards. Online fulfilment, customer service Pick, pack and process all online shop orders, promptly, accurately, and securely. Ensure all online orders are shipped in a timely manner using the most appropriate shipping method, with all appropriate dispatch paperwork accurately completed. Respond to all customer enquiries within agreed timeframes, resolving issues in a polite and professional manner, escalating more complex enquiries to the eCommerce Manager. Stockroom support When required, assist with goods-in: accurately and efficiently receive all incoming stock deliveries in accordance with retail procedures, unpacking, checking and safely storing stock; process all deliveries on the museum’s inventory management system, notifying the merchandising team of any shortages or breakages. Provide cover for, and assistance to, the Stockroom Assistant when required, performing tasks including shopfloor replenishment. Person specification Essential - Experience, knowledge and skills Experience, ideally in eCommerce, customer service, factory, stockroom or warehouse environments Experience using eCommerce and inventory management systems Good attention to detail and strong organisational skills, able to multitask, prioritise workload and work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent customer service skills, able to effectively resolve issues Good interpersonal and communication skills Ability to use own initiative and be proactive Ability to work well as part of a team Salary: £26,160 per annum Holidays: 25 days per annum Christmas eve (museum closed) Hours: 35 hours / 5 days per week Location: this role is based on-site at the Design Museum, Kensington.
