Role: Welding Engineer / Technical Lead Engineer with welding expertise - Hinkley C Nuclear Power Station project
Location: Bridgwater, Somerset (TA5 1UF) - 3 days/week on site, 2 days from home
Salary: £60000 - £80000 + travel allowance

Morson Edge are delighted to present and exciting opportunity for a Welding Engineer / Technical Lead Engineer with experitise in Welding to work in support of EDFs Hinkley C nuclear power station construction project.
The position will be based at the Hinkley C site near Bridgwater, Somerset (TA5 1UD) 3 days/week, with the rest worked from home. Candidates will be required to obtain nuclear site security clearance for this role.
Whilst prior nuclear industry experience would be advantageous, the client will happy consider candidates with a strong background supporting other large, complex, multidisciplinary construction projects (e.g. oil and gas, power, defence, marine, etc),
Role Duties and Responsibilities
This role will occupy a key role within the HPC Joint Design Office (JDO). The JDO plays a crucial role in the project by providing technical support and managing the resolution of technical issues during construction. The JDO is responsible for producing or updating documentation, managing design changes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. It is a collaborative team led by the HPC Client, alongside EPR-e and key contractors, working to resolve layout challenges and ensure the project's success.
Providing technical leadership with regards to Welding / Welding Engineering, this role will form a link between engineering design, construction, safety, and the client, with duties and responsibilities including:
Provide overall technical leadership for your scope of work across Welding design, construction, and installation activities
Act as the key technical interface between the consultancy, client, contractors, and supply chain
Own technical decision making, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and regulatory expectations
Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams, setting technical standards and direction
Drive resolution of complex technical issues in a live construction environment
Ensure engineering outputs are compliant with nuclear codes, standards, and site processes
Support delivery to programme, cost, and quality targets while maintaining nuclear safety as the overriding priority
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
IWE or EWE status, with a strong technical grounding in welding engineering
In depth understanding of industry relevant specifications and their application
Hands on experience applying welding codes and standards to complex, multidisciplinary, multi interface projects
Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, with a strong technical foundation
Demonstrable experience of technical problem solving, including managing and influencing a wide range of stakeholders
Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical issues to both technical and non technical audiences
Proven experience of site based engineering, operating effectively in live construction or installation environments
Desirable
MSc in Welding Engineering
Chartered Engineer status (or working toward an equivalent professional registration)
Background in engineering design and welding specification development
