We are working with an award winning Education provider in the area of Bridgwater, Somerset. They are looking for a Maintenance Operative to add to their team. The role is full time, 52 weeks.
The role is perfect for someone who’s confident juggling multiple tasks at once and enjoys keeping things in order. To maintain buildings, equipment and plant to the high standards set by the company and external regulators
The Maintenance team is responsible for completing routine and emergency repairs to equipment, fixtures, fittings and building systems. Duties include responding to reports of broken or faulty items, conducting routine inspections of buildings and liaising with external specialists and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Compile and maintain documentation
* Support various team members with one-off requests or smaller tasks
* Support the maintenance team in delivering day-to-day reactive and planned maintenance, refurbishment, and repair tasks across the school site.
* Ensure the school buildings, grounds, and equipment are well-presented, tidy, and free from hazards, maintaining the school's high standards and reputation.
* Conduct regular weekly and monthly compliance checks (e.g., heating systems, fire safety equipment, water flushing) and ensure accurate records are kept.
* Promptly report any defects, damage, hazards, theft, or breakages to the relevant staff member or supervisor.
* Handle all tools, chemicals, and equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and COSHH regulations, ensuring proper use and safe storage.
* Liaise with external contractors, under the direction of the Line Manager, to coordinate work outside the scope of in-house maintenance.
* Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in safe working condition, and securely stored.
* Lock and secure school premises for out-of-hours activities as required.
* Provide support to the wider maintenance team for larger tasks or when additional staff are required.
