Job overview
Due to external promotion of the substantive post holder an opportunity has arisen for a full time band 5 Assistant Librarian to join the highly regarded Library & Knowledge Service, North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT). This is a permanent post.
This post is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to help develop library services in a Trust which encourages lifelong learning and evidence based practice.
Main duties of the job
1. Training library users, patients, service users, carers and members of the public to use online and internet resources such as healthcare databases, the library catalogue and high quality internet sites as appropriate to their needs.
2. Assisting the Head of Knowledge & Library Services with the provision and management of library and knowledge resources and services.
3. Contributing to outreach activities across the NELFT geography and to the library’s external customers

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436).
