Job Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary point of contact for the Council's ICT Support Service, assisting over five hundred staff members and elected Council Members with technical issues.
* Log, prioritize, and resolve ICT problems and requests efficiently, ensuring high standards of customer support.
* Log, monitor, and resolve service desk calls within agreed service levels.
* Provide first and second line support to the council's user base.
* Install, configure, and test hardware and software components.
* Work in an agile and flexible manner, including remote home-working and office working on a rota basis.
* Undertake routine operational tasks, such as completing and monitoring data backups and restores.
* Liaise with users, support services, and third-party suppliers.
* Participate in the IT emergency standby/on-call rota.
* Operate within an ITIL service management framework.
* Promote the Council's Equality and Diversity Policy to ensure non-discriminatory service provision and employment practices.
* Assist in the event of a civil emergency as instructed.
Person Specifications
* Demonstrable evidence of previous learning or training in relevant ICT or related technical subjects.
* Competency in the use and diagnosis of issues using Windows 10 or 11 operating systems.
* Competency in the use and diagnosis of issues with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office 365 products.
* Experience with desktop, laptop, tablet, and other main ICT components.
* Experience in supporting mobile devices and ensuring their security.
* Knowledge of Windows Server 2016 operating systems and above.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to quickly build and maintain rapport with a diverse range of people.
* Ability to communicate technical information effectively and clearly to customers, staff, third-party suppliers, and partners.
* Excellent customer care skills.
* Ability to investigate and resolve problems analytically.
* Willingness to participate in training and learn new skills as required by the job.
* Methodical approach to performing operational duties accurately and effectively.
* Ability to systematically follow instructions and directions.
* Commitment to maintaining high standards of care and support for service users.
