This is a fantastic opportunity for a Midwife with an interest in infectious diseases to join our multi-professional Screening Team, delivering high-quality care to women/birthing people and their families.
The post-holder will work independently, undertaking tasks under the supervision of the screening coordinator.
You Will:
* Have knowledge of infectious diseases screening pathways.
* Possess good IT skills, including updating Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
* Contact women/birthing people to discuss reactive results and make referrals to specialist teams.
* Be responsible for providing specialist care in line with National Screening standards, leading on HIV, Hepatitis B, and Syphilis pathways.
This post is not suitable for newly qualified or overseas midwives awaiting their OSCE or without a completed preceptorship.
Main duties of the job
* Act as a specialist in screening for infectious diseases in pregnancy, advising and assisting pregnant women/birthing people.
* Work closely with the Failsafe Officer and escalate concerns to the Screening Coordinator.
* Ensure timely handling of all reactive infectious disease results.
* Provide information, support, and counselling to enable informed decision-making regarding testing and pregnancy management.
* Review and contribute to maternity guidelines related to infectious diseases screening.

Person Specification
Essential: Registered Midwife, Diploma level education or equivalent, computer literacy, effective communication, and ability to work cross-site.
Desirable: Experience in antenatal screening, understanding of national screening programs, additional qualifications like NLS, practice assessor.

* Good health and attendance record.
* Willingness to work cross-site if required.
* Clearance via DBS check.
* Current UK professional registration.
