We are looking for a full or part time passionate, big personality and energetic Shift Manager who can help us to lead from the front and create exceptional dining experiences at our new Guildford fresh pasta restaurant. We won’t just be cooking and serving our customers the freshest pasta in town (although that’s a big part of it!), but opening doors to one of the coolest locations in town.
Picture this: we’ll have chefs making fresh pasta in the window of the restaurant to entice the good people of Guildford in. There’ll be the hippest Italian funk and jazz on stereo, the smell of ragù in the air, fresh pasta making classes in-house, drivers buzzing about on our beautiful terracotta Vespas, and much more.
As Shift Manager, you’ll lead by example, overseeing operations during your shift and fostering a positive environment where our passion for authentic Italian cuisine shines through. What you'll do at Pasta Evangelists:
1. Be in charge of the restaurant floor and kitchen, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
2. Uphold cleanliness, food safety, and operational procedures in both front-of-house and back-of-house areas.
3. Oversee the kitchen and dining area, ensuring every dish is a masterpiece. You’ll also be involved in preparing dishes (training provided) — a love for good food is essential.
4. Be the go-to person for our front and back of house staff.
5. Address challenges proactively and make quick, effective decisions for seamless service.
6. Engage warmly with guests, exploring our menu, offering recommendations, and answering questions passionately.
7. Participate in preparing pasta dishes that look as good as they taste.
8. Train new team members and keep the current crew sharp with ongoing training.
9. Manage shifts and time-off requests to ensure full staffing.
10. Handle cash and reconcile transactions accurately and honestly.
11. Assist with budget planning and cost control strategies.
12. Conduct regular Food and Health & Safety checks, responding swiftly to issues.
13. Maintain a positive vibe, even during busy shifts.
Who you are:
1. Experienced as a Shift Manager or similar role in hospitality, with a good understanding of restaurant operations.
2. A natural leader who motivates and guides a team with positive energy.
3. Excellent communicator and interpersonal skills, able to connect with staff and customers alike.
4. Calm and composed under stress.
5. Passionate about great food and hospitality, eager to share that passion.
