Academics are currently working with a fantastic SEN secondary school in Colchester, Essex who are looking to recruit a passionate SEN Secondary Teacher for a September 2026 start. This is a rewarding opportunity for teachers who are committed to supporting pupils with ASD and additional complex needs within a specialist setting.
Key Details:
* Location: SEN Secondary School in Colchester, Essex
* Start Date: September 2026
* Contract: Permanent
* Salary: M1 to UPS1 + SEN allowance (where applicable)
* Hours: Full-time
* Key Stages: KS3 & KS4
The Role:
* Plan and deliver personalised, engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SEN
* Support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
* Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
* Promote students' academic, social, and emotional development
* Work closely with SENCOs, therapists, and support staff
* Lead classroom routines and contribute to the wider school community
* Ensure high standards of safeguarding and inclusive practice

Requirements:
* QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
* Experience teaching pupils with SEN, particularly ASD and complex needs
* Strong understanding of the secondary curriculum
* Experience supporting students with communication and social needs
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* A patient, adaptable, and positive approach
