Responsibilities:
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with secondary-aged students who require additional support in their educational journey. Your primary responsibilities include:
· Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
· Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans, working closely with teachers.
· Build strong relationships with students, offering emotional support and guidance to help them overcome barriers to learning.
· Collaborate with the teaching team to create engaging and differentiated learning activities that meet the diverse needs of students.
· Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to review meetings.
Requirements:
· Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
· Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement education health care plans (EHCPs) for the students.
· Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting a positive attitude towards learning, and helping students build self-esteem and confidence.
· Assisting with classroom activities, providing necessary accommodations and modifications to meet individual students' needs.
· Supporting students in developing essential life skills, including communication, social interaction, and self-help skills.
· Monitoring and recording student progress, reporting to teachers, and adapting support strategies as needed.
· Assisting with behavioural management, ensuring a safe and respectful school environment for all students.
· Engaging in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in SEND education.
