An opportunity has arisen to join the Acute Hospital at Home service as an Administrative Assistant. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the is ever-growing and evolving AHAH department. As well as providing essential administrative support to clinical staff, you will be in regular contact with patients and their support network to ensure the treatment of their acute medical need, in the comfort of their own homes, is a positive experience.
Main duties of the job
* Demonstrate excellent customer care skills. Provide a “welcome point” for the ward, responding to patient, staff and visitor requests.
* Analyse and deal with routine non-clinical problems, following Trust policy and using own initiative to ensure seamless support in the clinical area enabling staff to perform. This includes receiving queries, both in person and on the telephone and manage appropriately.
* Liaise with other departments and service providers to coordinate care delivery i.e. arrange SDEC, practice nurse, district nurse appointments.
* Prioritise work, ensuring support for clinical staff is always available.
* Assist ward nurses with discharge process, e.g. updating transport bookings, posting discharge information.
* Obtain notes, in routine and emergency situations, ensuring clinical staff have access to information in a timely fashion.
* File patient documentation generated on the ward.
* Track all notes to ensure notes can be obtained from anywhere at any time.
* Arrange routine and emergency transport.
* Accurate input of patient details including bed status on PAS system, ensuring follow up appointments are booked.
* Working knowledge of routine for ordering stock.
* Provide all general and ad hoc administration and clerical support as directed by the Ward Clerk Management.

Essential criteria
* NVQ3 Qualification or experience in a relevant discipline
* GCSE or equivalent in mathematics, English
* Experience in a healthcare setting with an understanding of medical terminology
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience of developing administrative and data software systems
* Knowledge of manipulation and electronic data handling
* Clerical/Financial/Administrative experience gained within the NHS or Health setting
* Very good numeracy and literacy skills
* Very good IT skills
* Experience of managing data software systems
