We have an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Technical Instructor to join our Mental Health directorate.
The role involves supporting qualified Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff in assessing and treating individuals on older persons mental health wards. Patients primarily have dementia, but some may have functional mental health difficulties, requiring adaptability. Strong communication skills, determination, and a commitment to building positive therapeutic relationships are essential to support patient engagement and understanding their needs.

Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)
* Undertake initial screening assessments following protocols and communicate results to supervising therapists and the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
* Perform skilled support work involving clinical interventions requiring higher-level technical skills, such as functional assessments, relaxation, and anxiety management, following protocols.
* Provide therapy support to patients with various mental health conditions to help them maintain or restore their abilities and address functional, cognitive, social, and environmental challenges in self-care, mobility, and functioning.
* Engage patients and their carers in therapeutic programs, encouraging and supporting them to achieve goals and maximize independence and wellbeing through a client-centered approach.
* Work independently with individual or groups of patients, modifying treatment programs as needed, and report patient progress and relevant issues to the MDT.
* Support the delivery of an efficient and effective service to meet the needs of ward patients.
* Collaborate as an integral part of the multidisciplinary MHSOP ward team and inpatient service.
