About the Role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to provide tailored support for a non-verbal child, helping them access the curriculum and develop communication and social skills. You’ll use a range of strategies including visual aids, Makaton, and assistive technology to foster engagement and progress.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support for a non-verbal pupil throughout the school day.
Implement individual learning plans and communication strategies.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent support.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience working with children with SEN, particularly non-verbal needs.
Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude.
Knowledge of alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton) is desirable.
