Consultant Ophthalmology Pharmacist Progression Scheme

We are offering a new Consultant Pharmacist progression post. The post holder will be a dynamic individual ready to provide expert leadership and knowledge covering the domains of clinical practice, education and research.
The successful candidate will already be working, or show commitment to work towards Consultant Pharmacist credentialing as set by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
The role aims to create a highly specialised Ophthalmology Pharmacist with the opportunity to progress to consultant level.
As an expert in the speciality, the post holder will provide a dynamic link between clinical practice and service development by creating new models for delivering patient care, ensuring the best experience and outcomes for patients from their medicines, whenever and wherever care is provided.
Main duties of the job
This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role‑specific criteria.
* Provide a specialist pharmacy service optimising patient outcomes and improving the patient experience, working within patient care pathways across sectors and healthcare boundaries.
* Lead, undertake, supervise and publish high‑impact research in the field of ophthalmology therapies and models of service for the care of patients.
* Contribute to improving health outcomes for patients using a holistic approach to care, ensuring the safe and effective use of medicine through provision of medicines‑related aspects of patient care.
* Promote improvements in quality, safety and cost effectiveness of medicines use and support holistic management of clinical conditions, influencing the wider community of practice.
* Act as a mentor and role model as a clinical pharmacist, manager and leader.
* Use innovation to support effective patient outcomes, safety and experience aligned with relevant national agenda.
* Deliver education and training for pharmacy and other healthcare professionals across the health economy and for the University.
* Lead and role‑model in the field locally, regionally and nationally.
* Fulfil the role of Consultant Pharmacist as described in the Department of Health Guidance for Development of Consultant Pharmacists Posts (2005) and the updated Consultant Pharmacist Guidance (January 2020).
Person Specification
* Qualified Pharmacist with experience within ophthalmology pharmacy.
* Experience leading a specialist service.
* Experience of people management/team management.
* Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
* Membership with the UK Ophthalmic Pharmacists Group (UKOPG).

Salary: £66,582 to £91,609 per year, dependent on experience.
