Description Overview We are looking for an experienced Payroll Accountant to join our team for a 6 month FTC. Reporting to the Accounting Controls & Recharge Manager, you will be taking ownership of the payroll accounting function - provide an on-going service to the business, ensure that reconciliations are up to date and statutory reporting deadlines are achieved. This role is hybrid with 2 days required in our Chippenham office. How will you contribute? Ensure that the accuracy of the general ledger payroll transactions for Wincanton payrolls. Improve and maintain the relationship with the payroll team. Support the Senior payroll accounting assistant in the production of the year end statutory reports and annual Insurance exposure data preparation. Support the Financial Services Manger with the HY/YE audit requirements. Liaise with our external auditors on Payroll. Identify areas for continued improvement and create a controls environment in line with the accounting controls framework to mitigate the risk of material error or misstatement. Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are available and up to date. What will you bring? Experience within a similar role Experience of managing teams Technical experience and an understanding of the detailed workings of the balance sheet and can clearly interpret, explain & direct appropriate accounting transactions Ability to assimilate information rapidly, identify key risk and controls, and then make decisions that lead to added value.
