Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? We are seeking a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southampton.
You will play a vital role in supporting children across Early Years, KS1, and KS2 who have a range of complex needs, including:
* Visual and Hearing Impairments
* Physical Disabilities
* Communication and Language Difficulties
* Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Needs
* Sensory Processing Issues
* Learning Difficulties
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and specialist staff, your role will include:
* Delivering targeted support to individuals or small groups
* Supporting learning through adapted resources and communication strategies
* Assisting with mobility, sensory integration, and personal care where necessary
* Helping children to manage emotions and behaviours positively
* Promoting inclusion and engagement in all aspects of school life
* Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* A genuine passion for helping every child thrive
* Relevant training or qualifications (e.g., Makaton, PECS, Moving & Handling) are an advantage but not essential
* A fulfilling role making a real difference in children's lives
