Working Details
* Full‑time, 37 hours per week (option for part‑time or job share)
* Hybrid working arrangement (voluntary, non‑contractual)
* Location: Exeter, England, United Kingdom
* Compensation up to £49,448 annually – includes a Civil Service pension and at least 27.5 days of annual leave (rising to 32.5 days after five years)
Responsibilities
* Research cutting‑edge science and technology to produce outputs benefiting customers.
* Develop high‑quality scientific computing code for data analysis and forecast production systems.
* Work within a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver a range of projects.
* Communicate science through reports and presentations to customers and peers.
* Carry out scientific and technical activities to ensure timely delivery of operational services for the benefit of customers.
Essential Criteria, Skills and Experience
* Graduate or equivalent degree in a physical or quantitative scientific discipline and several years of post‑graduate applied research or scientific consulting experience.
* Experience applying scientific and analytical methods to numeric data, including developing new concepts and methods.
* Strong scientific computing skills (e.g. Python), with experience of writing and maintaining complex code and using quality assurance tools.
* Excellent written, oral, presentation and listening skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
* An independent thinker who proactively owns their work, identifies knowledge gaps, plans and manages tasks to deliver on time.
* A contributing team player who collaborates effectively and supports colleagues.
