This is a field-based role for an engineer who is confident in live environments—installing, maintaining and fault-finding across structured cabling, IP CCTV, access control, and networked security platforms. What you’ll be doing You’ll cover service, maintenance, fault diagnosis and installation across integrated security and network infrastructure systems. Key responsibilities * Service, maintain, fault-find and install structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fibre) * Install and support IP CCTV systems (network cameras, NVR/VMS components) * Install and maintain access control and door entry systems (readers, controllers, integrations) * Commission and configure networked security systems (device onboarding, IP addressing, PoE checks, connectivity validation) * Diagnose faults across integrated IP environments (switching, PoE, VLANs, endpoints, cabling/fibre faults) * Work across a mix of customer sites (e.g., commercial, public sector, retail, industrial) * Complete service documentation and reports in line with internal quality standards * Liaise with technical support teams to ensure clean handovers and fast resolutions * Participate in a paid on-call rota (coverage-based) Technology environment (keyword dense) You’ll operate in modern, networked estates where “security engineering” and “network fundamentals” overlap. Core technologies you’ll touch * Structured cabling: Cat5e/Cat6, patch panels, containment, termination, testing/certification, fibre basics * IP CCTV: IP cameras, NVR/VMS concepts, bandwidth considerations, remote access principles * Access control / door entry: controllers, readers, door hardware interfaces, networked access platforms * Networking fundamentals: IP addressing, switching, PoE, VLANs, fault isolation in live environments * Integrated troubleshooting: multi-system diagnosis across endpoints, cabling, switching and configuration Desirable vendor/platform exposure * Axis Communications (CCTV/audio/access) * Paxton Net2 * HID / LenelS2 / Brivo (access control exposure) * HPE Aruba / Cisco switching (or similar) What we’re looking for Essential * Hands-on experience with structured cabling, IP CCTV, and access control * Strong understanding of networked security environments * Confident with networking fundamentals: IP addressing, switching, PoE * Proven fault-finding in live operational sites * Full UK driving licence Ideal traits * Professional, customer-facing approach (you’ll be the “face” on site) * Strong documentation habits (service notes, handovers, site reporting) * Calm under pressure and comfortable working independently on-site Apply If you’re a field-based Systems Service Engineer with strong IP CCTV, access control, structured cabling and network troubleshooting experience, apply now.
