GSL Education are currently seeking an enthusiastic 1:1 SEND Support Assistant to join a primary school in Nottingham. This role offers the opportunity to provide personalised support to children, help them access the curriculum, and create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Role Overview:
As a 1:1 SEND Support Assistant, you will work closely with a designated pupil to support their learning and development. You will assist with academic tasks, encourage social and emotional growth, and help the pupil engage fully in classroom activities. Your role is vital in ensuring the child reaches their full potential.
As a 1:1 SEND Support Assistant, you will:
* Provide one-to-one support to pupils with special educational needs throughout the school day.
* Assist with learning activities, supporting literacy, numeracy, and other areas of the curriculum.
* Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence.
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents to support the child’s progress.
* Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
* Observe and record pupil progress to inform teaching strategies and interventions.
Requirements for 1:1 SEND Support Assistant:
* Experience working with children with SEN or additional needs is desirable.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
* An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
* A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
