Overview
Work within the team to promote and provide a high quality, welcoming, safe, secure, play-based learning environment for all the children attending.
* Provide a high standard of care for the children’s physical and emotional needs, ensuring that this is carried out in a safe environment.
* Ensure all children receive a high standard of individual support and attention.
* Accept responsibility of key person role within the preschool.
* Support the planning and implementing of a high-quality curriculum which complies with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted guidance.
* Monitor and record information on individual key children on a daily basis.
* Provide parents with regular formal and informal opportunities (e.g. parent consultations) to discuss their children’s development and ways in which they can assist in their development.
* Observe children, produce records and other reports as necessary and pass on relevant information to other members of staff and parent/carers.
* Liaise with parents/carers, staff and other agencies to ensure that the individual needs for the children are identified and met.
* Establish positive and sympathetic relationships by working in partnership with the children’s parents/carers, and to undertake good effective communications whilst always remaining professional and objective.
* Ensure the children are safeguarded and advise the Preschool management of any concerns e.g. over children, parents of the child, safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality, as necessary.
* Provide all aspects of care for children including washing, feeding and toileting needs, subject to an enhanced DBS check.
* Record accidents and any treatments given.
* Assist the manager in obtaining and maintaining personal records for each key child including attendance, medical and personal details.
* Ensure that equipment and toys and the environment, both indoors and outdoors, are cleaned and sterilised regularly and effectively, to promote high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
* To ensure the setting up and cleaning away of daily equipment.
* Attend staff meetings and contribute to the preschool’s curriculum learning, by preparing daily activities.
* Support the establishment and maintenance of positive relationships with parents, carers and external agencies.
* Attend the required statutory staff training (first aid and safeguarding) and personal development training as identified.
* Complete all training required to ensure an appropriate qualification.
* To contribute to the social and extra-curricular activities of the Preschool and assisting with their organisation when required (fundraising and open days).
* Take responsibility of the health and safety of yourself and others whilst in preschool.
* Familiarise and carry out duties in compliance with the Harrietsham preschool’s policies and procedures.
* To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which will be learnt as part of the job.
* Be an ambassador for the preschool and promote the good reputation of it.
* Any and all other duties as instructed by management.
