General Summary
As a member of the Operations Management team, the Fabrication & Welding Supervisor will manage the technical aspects of the welding and fabrication area to ensure compliance with EN and ASME codes and act as the first line of management responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the weld/fabrication and pipe shop areas.
Welding Technical Authority Principal Duties
* Compile Procedure Qualification Records and Weld Procedure Specifications, selecting appropriate weld consumables.
* Issue purchase requisitions for all welding consumables and qualification test materials.
* Coordinate and supervise welding qualification tests, obtaining third‑party approvals and issuing reports.
* Serve as subject‑matter expert on welding qualification and processes, managing technical queries internally and externally.
* Maintain qualified welder lists and organize training and up‑grading according to procedures and customer requirements.
* Control and issue welding materials.
* Oversee welding and fabrication operations to ensure procedural compliance.
* Manage instrument and equipment calibration records, arranging calibration per policy.
Supervisor Duties (In Addition to Welding Authority)
* Maintain a positive and safe working environment with high housekeeping standards.
* Lead daily stand‑up meetings, communicating safety moments, toolbox talks, and work priorities.
* Communicate data performance and information boards to employees, colleagues, customers, and managers.
* Drive positive KPI results in line with company values.
* Manage a proactive and sustainable 5S culture within the cell.
* Coaching, developing, and performance managing cell team members.
* Ensure standard operating work procedures are implemented and followed.
* Monitor and control actual versus estimated operation times.
* Identify and implement operational improvements.
* Allocate productive work to team members per the weld area plan and business forecast.
* Liaise with quality, engineering, inspection, planning, and purchasing to resolve production constraints.
* Lead continuous improvement programs across responsibilities.
* Ensure start/stop and break times are adhered to and control overtime in line with production needs.
* Manage material workflow and booking discipline.
* Ensure self‑inspection and NCR procedures are fully adhered to.
* Deliver regular communication to team members and conduct periodic audits per EHS and Quality requirements.
* Raise NCRs as required.
* Perform ad‑hoc welding if the team is absent or critical deadlines arise.
* Provide training and support to all welding and fabrication apprentices.

Education, Skills, And Experience
* Proven track record building effective teams with the drive to meet operational goals.
* Strong focus on output delivery, maintaining awareness to achieve results under pressure.
* Execution skills, driving improvement initiatives that positively affect customer experience and the bottom line.
* Effective interpersonal skills, managing conflict, setting standards, and asserting up‑to‑Date performance expectations.
* Broad skills needed for cell area management: layout, health & safety, environment, quality, and workflow.
* Time served welder or equivalent hands‑on manufacturing experience (advantageous).
* Knowledge of Clyde Union systems, materials, product, and components.
* Previous supervisory experience in a relevant manufacturing environment/industry.
Welding Technical Authority
* CWEng or European Welding Engineer certification or other formal qualifications (advantageous).
* Working knowledge of ASME and EN weld procedures qualification, material specifications, and welding processes.
* Knowledge of ASME Section II, EN and RCC‑M materials.
* Ability to meet ASME IX QG 106 and CUP QA Program requirements.
* Interface with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing departments.
