Job Description
As our Deputy General Manager, your focus is to work closely with your teams to develop a great work relationship and together to provide the best customer service.
As well as having excellent presentation, organisational and communication skills, you will be able to demonstrate a real passion for food & service and possess enthusiasm.
* Collaborate with the back‑of‑house team to help develop well‑balanced and nutritious menus that cater to diverse dietary requirements and preferences.
* Prepare and manage the catering budget, ensuring cost‑effective operations while maintaining quality standards.
* Establish strong relationships with school bursars, head teachers and faculty.
* Recruit, train, supervise and motivate catering staff.
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards and quality control protocols.
* Identify opportunities for growth, innovation and improvement in menu offerings, service delivery and operational efficiency.
* Maintain strict adherence to health and safety regulations, ensuring a clean and organised retail environment.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Deputy Retail Manager/Deputy General Manager/Assistant Manager in a high‑volume, quality‑focused environment, preferably contract catering.
* Demonstrated experience in managing, training and supporting a team.
* Financially astute, analytical and able to create and maintain budgets and drive commercial performance.
* Excellent coaching, delegation and influencing skills.
* Ability to prioritise multiple projects in a fast‑paced, multi‑faceted, creative environment and thrive under pressure.
* Exceptional multitasking, prioritisation and adaptability in a fast‑paced environment.
* Meticulous organisational abilities and high attention to detail.
* Empathetic, clear and effective verbal and written communication.
* Solution‑oriented perspective, capable of adapting to challenges and opportunities.
* Excellent strategic thinking and critical reasoning skills.
