Overview
An opportunity has arisen with Clinical Investigations Unit (CIU) for a Healthcare Scientist Support Worker with Cardio/Respiratory Physiology. CIU works across three hospital sites - Furness General Hospital (FGH), Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) and Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI). The successful applicant will be required to work on the above locations, although it is anticipated that the post will be centred on the FGH site.
As a Healthcare Scientists Support Worker you will be required to provide support to the clinical physiology team, working in areas such as Electrocardiograms (ECG), ambulatory ECGs and Blood Pressure hookups, prolonged ECG monitoring (AliveCor and Diagnosticks), spirometry, FeNO and sleep studies.
Responsibilities
* Work effectively and efficiently as part of a team within the Clinical Investigations Unit, ensuring a high quality service is provided to patients attending the department.
* Perform 12 lead ECG in a variety of clinical settings and run ambulatory monitors (AliveCor and Diagnosticks), BP, spirometry and FeNO and sleep clinics.
* Work alongside colleagues, clinicians, the patient and their relatives.
* Assist in the professional and operational delivery of the service within CIU, including shared allocation of work and training other staff.

Locations and setting
We operate from three main hospitals—Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal—and from a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life threatening conditions. All three main hospitals provide planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery, with a range of local outreach services and diagnostics across Morecambe Bay.
