An accurate, confidential and supportive administration service for patients, clinical teams, carers, and internal and external agencies. The role ensures a safe and efficient patient pathway and provides information and appropriate support to families and carers.
Responsibilities
* Provide a comprehensive, high‑quality medical secretarial and administrative service to consultants, doctors, junior medical team, specialist nursing teams, and other health professionals.
* Coordinate and maintain arrangements that facilitate patient progression along a defined pathway.
* Maintain office organization and monitor workload related to the administration team.
* Guide the team in day‑to‑day issues, oversee the smooth running of the department, and support the line manager.
* Welsh language skills are desirable; applicants proficient in English and/or Welsh are welcome.
Qualifications – Essential Criteria
* NVQ Business Administration Level 3 or equivalent experience, or City & Guilds (AMSPAR) Level 3 Diploma in Medical Administration, or equivalent medical secretary experience.
* ILM Level 2 Team Leader credential, or willingness to work towards and achieve within 2 years, or relevant equivalent experience.
* RSA /OCR Level 3 or equivalent typing experience.
* ECDL or equivalent computer proficiency.
* Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
* Evidence of continuous personal development.
Qualifications – Desirable Criteria
* Management qualification or working towards one.
* NVQ Level 3 Customer Service.
* Knowledge of Referral to Treatment (RTT) process.
* Previous NHS experience.
* Experience producing graphs and statistics.
* Ability to produce reports.
* Confidence with all aspects of office practice.
* Welsh speaker.
Aptitude and Abilities – Essential Criteria
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Advanced typing skills.
* Ability to work autonomously.
* Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
* Ability to take and transcribe succinct minutes.
