Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activities Director to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in senior care, particularly within nursing homes or assisted living facilities. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to create engaging programmes that cater to the diverse needs of our residents, including those with dementia.
Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive activities programme that promotes physical, emotional, and social well-being for residents.
* Assess the interests and needs of residents to tailor activities that enhance their quality of life.
* Coordinate and lead group activities, ensuring participation from all residents while fostering a supportive environment.
* Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities are appropriate for residents' health conditions and capabilities.
* Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities.
* Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and encourage involvement.
* Organise special events and outings that enrich the lives of residents and foster community engagement.
* Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations.
Requirements
* Previous experience in a similar role within a nursing home or senior care setting is preferred.
* Strong understanding of the needs of seniors, particularly those requiring dementia care.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff members.
* A caring attitude and a passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through meaningful activities.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Flexibility to adapt programmes based on resident feedback and changing needs.
