Your new role
As Commercial Manager, you'll drive the financial success of projects from tender to completion. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions
* Negotiating contract terms, variations, and commercial agreements
* Managing subcontractor agreements and procurement processes
* Conducting regular project reviews to monitor financial performance
* Preparing and submitting applications for payment
* Managing cash flow forecasting and budget control
* Ensuring full compliance with contract requirements
* Collaborating with project managers, site teams, and senior leadership
* Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
* Maintaining high standards of commercial governance
What you'll need to succeed
Essential requirements:
* Degree in quantity surveying, commercial management, or related discipline
* Substantial commercial experience in civil engineering/construction
* Strong knowledge of standard contracts (particularly NEC and JCT)
* Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office
* Excellent analytical and numerical skills
* Ability to interpret complex contract documents and identify risks
* Strong negotiation and communication abilities
* Detail-orientated with excellent organisational skills
* Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Advantageous:
* Professional qualification (RICS, CIOB, or similar)
* Experience in infrastructure or utilities projects
