Overview
The Council takes a holistic approach to stock management and has one seamless service that is now responsible for everything in connection with the asset management of that stock. This involves everything from the initial design to completing works on site on a right first-time basis using our own directly employed trade teams and external contractors. Ipswich Borough Council is a progressive local authority with a large and varied property portfolio. Maintenance and Contracts spend circa £25 million annually, repairing and improving a retained housing stock of around 8000 properties and 15 sheltered schemes to our local “Ipswich Standard”.
Role

This is an exciting time to join the Maintenance and Contracts team at Ipswich Borough Council helping to deliver the Council’s vision and ambitions by growing the property portfolio and using assets in more innovative ways. You will play a critical role in the Maintenance and Contracts team delivering its operational objectives and major capital projects that will make a difference to the councils housing tenants.
Responsibilities and Requirements
Maintenance and Contracts has an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our busy team dealing with a varied and diverse residential portfolio of properties within the borough of Ipswich. You will be expected to manage your own time flexibly and effectively, whilst managing a team of professional employees, contractors and projects. As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering a number of key projects using robust project management techniques and governance. You must have excellent communication skills, project management experience, a good understanding of relevant Health and Safety and an awareness of financial management. You will need experience in contract management and be able to actively manage, control and communicate to our supply chains. You will be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge of technical and contractual procedures and have the ability to use a wide range of ICT operating systems. Ideally, you will be educated at degree level or working towards this and have three years qualitative experience.

Hours of work are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday and you will be based at Layard House, 11 New Way, Ipswich. IP2 0BX
